The Richmond Division is currently accepting applications for the 2019 Richmond Teen Academy. The FBI Richmond Teen Academy is a two-day program that allows high school students an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today’s FBI through blocks of instruction and demonstrations at the field office. Students are provided with several presentations on topics including terrorism, cyber, polygraph exams, evidence response, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office. Please note the program size is limited.

The HSF Scholarship Application Opens January 1, 2019!
The HSF Scholarship is designed to aid students of Hispanic heritage in their pursuit of a college degree. Scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate students (all years), graduate students, and community college students transferring to four-year universities. Awards are merit-based, and final amounts range from $500 to $5,000, based on demonstrated financial need.
Phase 1 of the application, which is a short questionnaire, opens on January 1, 2019 and closes on February 5. After review of all Phase 1 submissions, the top qualified applicants will be invited to complete the application Phase 2.

Engineering Career Exploration Program
Exploring is a unique after-school career education program for young men and women ages 14-20. It provides students with an opportunity to learn about careers in a specific field of interest and network with professionals already working in those fields. Young people get hands-on experience to determine whether or not a particular career field is right for them before making important decisions about their education. They can also develop valuable contacts with professionals and employers in the area, and get to know other young adults sharing the same interests and aspirations.

Want to learn how to fly a plane??
The Pathways Flight Academies will immerse students in learning to fly while discovering the range of exciting aviation career opportunities available. Four, two-week residential academies will be offered during the summer of 2019 for selected students who have shown an interest in and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), and have career aspirations to become a pilot. Students admitted to this intensive program will undertake ground school and flight training that can culminate in their first solo flight at the end of the academy!

VCU Dental Scholars is an after-school program that meets twice a month for 90-minute workshops. Participants learn through lectures conducted by a VCU dental student or faculty member and through hands-on laboratory experience. VCU Dental Scholar participants visit the Dent-Sim lab, create impressions, carve a wax tooth and more.
Participants are required to provide their own transportation and parking during the program. There is no cost for the program; dental lab supplies provided. Commitment to full attendance is required to participate.

2019 Law Related Program for High School Students by William and Mary
The Center for Legal & Court Technology (CLCT) at William & Mary Law School is pleased to announce the 2019 law-related program for high school students.
This unique and innovative program consists of interactive and dynamic courses designed to stimulate students’ conceptual learning and problem solving skills. The courses cover a variety of topics ranging from the US legal system, contracts and torts, to legal issues arising from emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence. We recommend these courses to students who are keen to explore what studying law entails, but also for those who have a passion for government studies or are interested in business and technology.
The courses are taught by Professors Fred Lederer and Iria Giuffrida, members of the faculty at William & Mary Law School and respectively CLCT’s Director and Associate Director for Research. All classes are held at the William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, VA, which offers an exceptional opportunity for high school students to experience life in a law school that is home to the most technologically advanced courtroom in the nation.

Howard University Bus Trip
The Howard University Alumni Club of Richmond, VA (HUAC-RVA) is sponsoring a bus trip to visit Howard University for its Open House Program on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 for prospective students and their parents and Howard alumni looking to mentor secondary students on their journey to Howard University. The trip includes the Open House Program, University Fair, lunch, a tour of the campus and tickets to the home game against Delaware State University. Howard University alumni will serve as chaperones; however, parents are welcome and encouraged to accompany their students on the trip.
